A Mankato man is facing charges after police say he kicked his seven-year-old son in the chest and aggressively tried to take the baby his wife was holding from her arms.
Dispatchers said that 24-year-old Joshua January could be heard yelling and swearing in the background of the 911 call, and stated, “The whole house could be dead by now.”
The criminal complaint shows that the couple was arguing after January took his wife’s phone from her, and when the seven-year-old tried to give it back to his mother the father kicked the child in the chest hard enough to knock him to the ground. January claims it was just a nudge that wasn’t forceful.
The child told investigators that January kicked him, “Really hard.”
Preliminary charges include two counts of domestic assault.
