For the first time this flu season, activity is now widespread across the state.

Melissa McMahon with the state Health Department said it’s not too late to get vaccinated because, “Even if you’ve already had influenza the vaccine prevents three-to-four strains of influenza. So even if you had one already this year and if you get a flu shot it will protect you against the other strains.”

McMahon added it’s still too early to tell if Minnesota is entering the peak of the flu season.
