Last Thursday, we lost Peter Tork. The fun-loving mop-haired bassist (top left) from the made for TV group, The Monkees. He was 77 years old. No official cause of death was noted, although Peter wrote a blog post almost a decade ago that talked about his battle with a rare form of tongue cancer.

The Monkees were a few years before my time, although I can’t think of an episode I didn’t watch thanks to Nick at Nite! America’s answer to the Beatles.

After news of his death broke, Neilsen Music reported that the sales of Monkees music increased by over 1100%!.  Not a type-o.

Peter Tork plays piano on Daydream Believer….who doesn’t sing along with it when hearing it?
