The Minnesota Department of Transportation and the Minnesota State Patrol closed Highway 19 from Henderson to Highway 169 by 1:00 p.m. Tuesday due to flooding from the Minnesota River.
MnDOT’s Rebecca Arndt said drivers will need to find an alternate route, as Highway 93 south of Henderson is already closed due to flooding.
Highway 19 will remain closed until further notice.
Highways that remain closed:
- Highway 19 east of Henderson
- Highway 93 south of Henderson
- Highway 4 north of St. James
- Highway 30 east of Mapleton
When a road is closed it is illegal to travel in that area and Arndt said drivers can be fined up to $1,000 and/or 90 days in jail. In addition, if travelers need to be rescued from a closed road, she said other expenses and penalties will apply.
