Financial data for non-profit health insurers released Monday suggest profits from the individual coverage market is recovering. After spending 2014, 15 and 16 in the red, the market began to rebound in 2017. Minnesota Lt. Governor Peggy Flanagan says this means the status quo of government subsidies cannot continue for these companies.
Republican legislators point to a state-run reinsurance program as contributing to the market rebound and are currently debating whether to renew the program.
