Governor Tim Walz makes his highly-visible appointment to head the state’s I-T Department — an agency embattled in recent years with the troubled MNsure rollout, followed by a series of problems with MN-LARS, the state’s vehicle registration and drivers license system. Republican Representative Jim Nash from Waconia says the next MN-IT commissioner must be allowed to push back on the administration in necessary areas:

“I hope that whoever this next person is has the full backing of the governor, almost to a carte blanche level.”

Republicans were highly critical of former Governor Mark Dayton’s response to problems with MNsure and MN-LARS.
