A Willmar-native is working on a musical that focuses on opioid addiction. David Esbjornson says he’s working with former Motley Crue Bass Guitarist Nikki Sixx, who has written the musical score:
“He’s written an amazing concept album with a new band called Sixx: A.M. And the music for this project is based on that material so it’s very specific to the circumstances that he found himself in. So we are looking forward to doing that. I think the music is good. And I think we know have a personal narrative that people will find compelling.”
Esbjornson says the musical is called “The Heroin Diaries”, after a book written by Nikki Sixx when he was in the throes of addiction and performing with Motley Crue.
