Speed-related crashes were up last year and as we enter the holiday weekend, State Patrol Lieutenant Gordon Shank has this message:

“Watch your speeds, there’s extra enforcement and that’s not just troopers, that’s officers and deputies, there’s a lot of agencies that are targeting to make sure that we’re following speed limits and that’s what we want, we want people to get there safely and speed is one of the four factors that contributed to injury and death and crashes.”

Last year, there were 113 speed-related fatalities in Minnesota–the highest number in a decade.
