A reminder for everyone today after a natural gas leak prompted the evacuation of a residential area last week in Minneapolis. Mike Mendiola with the Minnesota Office of Pipeline Safety says the first sign of a leak is the rotten egg odor added to natural gas.

“You may hear a small hiss, you may hear something louder than that. You may see a visual slight distortion in the area, dust or dirt or debris literally flying up from the ground.”

Mendiola says if you suspect a leak, clear out of the area, then call 9-1-1 and the gas company.
