They were unable to reach an agreement during the legislative session, but now, two months later, state lawmakers say they’re very close to a bipartisan deal to help lower insulin costs. Democratic Senator Matt Little of Lakeville says once lawmakers agree on funding, the deal will be complete.

“The goal is always yesterday, but we’re going to keep working and see when we can come up with something that we all agree to and that we’re comfortable asking everybody to go with.”

A tentative agreement would provide statewide access to small quantities of insulin for emergency use and link patients to services for long-term access to insulin. Governor Walz says he’ll call a special session once the deal is done.
