An area state lawmaker will co-chair the state Senate DFL Clean Energy and Climate Caucus. State Senator Nick Frentz of North Mankato will chair the caucus with Senate DFL leader Tom Bakk.

“We are here to give a voice to Minnesotans who are asking us to take action on climate change,” said Frentz. “We want Minnesotans to see us as working together. This should be a bipartisan issue.”

Frentz says the goal is to involve as many people as possible in the discussion.

“If your house was on fire, wouldn’t you want to know how badly the fire is burning before arguing about the cost of the fire hoses?” said Frentz. “We need to hold hearings. Let’s find out what the truth is. We are much more likely to get it right if we do that rather than put our head in the sand and act like there’s no problem.”

The caucus was unveiled Tuesday at the state capitol in St. Paul.
