A St. James man was sentenced to life in prison yesterday after being found guilty of premeditated murdered last month. The Mankato Free Press says Scott Englebrecht received his sentence Monday in Watonwan County District Court. A jury found Englebrecht guilty of killing his wife 67-year-old Joyce Engelbrecht and his stepdaughter, 43-year-old Rachel Linder in June of 2018. Premeditated murder carries a mandatory sentence of life in prison without parole. During the pre-sentence hearing, Joyce’s sister Lin Henricksen called Englebrecht, “a monster who robbed their family of a very kind and giving lady.”
