Minnesota Senator Tina Smith says work is being done in the U.S. Senate to improve affordable housing in rural areas. Smith says it’s a major issue in Minnesota.

“Minnesota businesses tell me it’s difficult to recruit people to come and live in rural areas due to the lack of affordable housing, especially affordable rental units.”

Smith says two bi-partisan measures being discussed in the senate are looking to improve rental assistance programs and to make sure rental properties are kept up for families can have a safe, affordable place to live.
