The Mankato City Council will hold a work session this evening. The council will discuss the feasibility of using sales tax dollars to finance recreational facilities. Mankato City Manager Pat Hentges says there were more requests to the city than the city can currently afford to finance.

“We have a capacity in the near term to issue about 25 million dollars worth of debt to fund 35 million dollars worth of requests,” said Hentges. “There’s going to have to be some pairing down, there’s going to have to be some expectations to somehow work these proposals in a way that can be accomplished.”

The work session will begin at six p.m. in the Minnesota River Room of the Intergovernmental Center.
