A Mountain Lake man has claimed the one million dollar winning Powerball ticket sold in Mankato. John Engstrom claimed his prize Wednesday at the Minnesota Lottery headquarters in Roseville. The Lottery’s press release says Engstrom called it a “fluke” that he even purchased a ticket. Engstrom said he and his wife were in Mankato doing some last-minute Christmas shopping when he stopped at Kwik Trip. Engstrom says he didn’t discover the ticket until he checked his coat pocket on Christmas Eve when he had to do some unexpected laundry thanks to his 11-month-old grandson. Kwik Trip earned a five thousand dollar bonus for selling the winning ticket.
