Some good news from the Minnesota State Patrol.

“Preliminary numbers from last year showed there were 364 fatalities on the roadways, down from 381 the year before,” said Troy Christianson with the State Patrol.

Christianson says most of the factors that lead to fatal accidents can be controlled.

“The four main factors in fatal crashes are distracted driving, DWI, seat belt usage and unsafe speed, ” said Christianson.

Christianson says two people died in a car vs semi accident in Mabel on New Year’s Day.
