Over about the last decade the Minnesota and Blue Earth Rivers have been subject to more frequent, higher intensity and longer duration floods. Because of this, many of the assets that are near the rivers are facing various levels of risk for damage or failure due to the erosion of the riverbanks.

At Monday night’s Mankato City council meeting, they adopted a bid for Land of Memories Bank Stabilization to help address those needs.

Through all three phases, this project is anticipated to cost $3,317,691.76, which is approximately $600,000 less than was originally estimated two years ago. This project was also part of the Governor’s bonding bill. As proposed, this project would receive 80% of all eligible costs from the State of Minnesota.
