Murder charges have now been filed against a Mankato mother. According to the criminal complaint, 27-year-old Chelsea Olinger is now facing charges of murder in the second degree, murder in the third degree and malicious punishment of a child.

The report says the 16-month-old child died due to complications of multiple blunt force injuries.

They list the manner of death as homicide.

A full autopsy report is expected in a few weeks.

The criminal complaint said the child was brain dead at the hospital in Rochester. The complaint alleges that Olinger told authorities the child had fallen down the stairs.

However, investigators concluded the injuries came from somewhere else. Olinger told authorities she was frustrated because the child would not go to sleep.
