Minnesota Governor Tim Walz says his decision to shut down bars, restaurants, recreational and entertainment facilities until March 27th wasn’t taken lightly. Walz says the decision will put at least 178-thousand people out of work temporarily so a plan was developed to assist them

“We opened up our unemployment system immediately to cut the red tape for those that are affected by this,” said Walz. “We encourage you to use the website https://www.uimn.org/ If you go on there and get through your application we hope to get you a check by the end of the week.”

The Governor says it’s a challenge for everyone dealing with the situation because there’s no playbook for it, but adds if people want the situation remedied as soon as possible they need to stay home.
