The Minnesota River out of its banks has closed highway 93 near Henderson. This week’s forecast could create some more rising rivers. Tyler Hasenstein is with the National Weather Service office in Chanhassen.
“We do have a concern for the rest of the week,” said Hasenstein. “Looking longer term, the outlooks are calling for below-normal precipitation should allow the rivers to gradually fall after this week.”
Hasenstein says they’re expecting a rise of a foot at the river gauge in Mankato. He says a rise of a foot or less would keep the river below flood stage. Hasenstein adds there currently is a flood warning for the Cottonwood River at New Ulm. The National Weather Service is calling for a 70-80 percent chance of rain Thursday and Friday.
