As part of Minnesota Severe Weather Awareness Week (April 13 through 17), the city of Mankato will participate in the annual statewide tornado drills at 1:45 p.m. and 6:45 p.m., Thursday, April 16. Outdoor warning sirens (see map) and weather radios (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) will sound at these times to simulate a tornado warning. Daily topics for this week include:
- Monday: Alerts and warnings
- Tuesday: Severe weather, lightning and hail
- Wednesday: Floods
- Thursday: Tornadoes
- Friday: Extreme heat
