Many government officials have raised concerns over the availability of PPE-or personal protective equipment-during the COVID-19 pandemic. Blue Earth County emergency management director Eric Weller says there’s good news and bad news on that front.

“That supply chain is ramping up,” said Weller. “There is more in the supply line now but we’re probably not where we need to be. If we slowly start bringing elective surgeries back the need for PPE will increase.”

Weller says the state has done a good job of increasing the capacity for a potential surge of coronavirus patients.
