Just over 25 of the workers at the JBS pork plant in Nobles County and five of their relatives tested positive for COVID-19. The Minnesota Department of Health is scheduled to inspect operations at the Worthington plant today, with a close eye on health safety precautions. Last week Governor Tim Walz said protecting workers at these types of facilities is incredibly important…

“Not just for our workers in our local community, we have to help feed the world. This thing gets really ugly if we have to send people back sick, if we have to see the shortages in the grocery stores.”

Walz’s concern last week came in the face of an outbreak in a South Dakota pork processing plant just across the border from Nobles County. So far there is no indication the illness has affected the food supply chain to this point.
