Next week, the Mankato City Council will hold a special meeting to discuss whether or not masks should be required in public. North Mankato Mayor Mark Dehen says they’ll be monitoring that discussion.
“We’ll be observing what happens at their special meeting and, if the schedule one, proceeding public hearing,” said Dehen. “At that time, we can discuss what we want to do.”
Dehen says he has received some feedback on the issue
“Many people have contacted me regarding the issue, and around 50 percent are for and 50 percent are against,” said Dehen.
Dehen says the two cities don’t have to mirror one another on the policy. He says for example North Mankato passed the Tobacco 21 Ordinance a couple of years before Mankato did.
