The Minnesota Department of Health has released new guidelines regarding visitors to long-term care settings.

“Those designated as essential caregivers, through a process, and by the resident, will have expanded access to make sure the residents’ full-range of emotional, physical, and social needs are met,” said MDH Commissioner Jan Malcom.

Malcolm said the new guidance reflects an awareness that even during a global pandemic, preventing disease transmission is only part of what goes into providing quality care in a long-term care setting.
