Are you ready for the holiday season? The country music world sure is! Stars like Carrie Underwood and Dolly Parton have already released new Christmas albums with others like Dan + Shay and Kelly Clarkson releasing seasonal singles. Next up on the holiday agenda in the country music scene is the CMA Country Christmas show. For those of you who hate to listen to Christmas music ahead of Thanksgiving, there is nothing to fear. The show won’t take place until November 30th so you can enjoy all of your turkey and cranberry sauce ahead of the performances. This year marks the show’s 11th anniversary and is set to provide plenty of nostalgia for its viewers. Executive producer Robert Deaton has described the show as “a throwback of the great Christmas specials of the 1960s and 1970s.” He also referenced past Christmas specials hosted by the likes of Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, and Judy Garland that invited viewers into their homes as if they were close friends with the stars to describe the feel of this year’s show. All in all, the goal of the special is to say “Come relax, and let’s spend the holidays together.” (Source: The Boot)

As one could expect, the show will look different this year due to COVID-19 precautions. The show has been pre-taped without the typical audience to cheer on their favorite stars. Despite the altered look of the show, performers like Hillary Scott from Lady A have ensured fans that the show will still be an enjoyable experience. Specifically, Scott has stated that the country couple co-hosts of Thomas Rhett and Laren Akins are sure to add a unique familial quality to the show that perfectly ties into the holiday season. Overall, the show sure sounds like it will become an instant classic!

Currently, the list of performers consists of:

  • Kelsea Ballerini
  • Gabby Barrett
  • Dan + Shay
  • Florida Georgia Line
  • Lady A
  • Little Big Town
  • Tim McGraw
  • Thomas Rhett
  • Darius Rucker with Lindsey Sterling
