The Minnesota Legislature will probably not meet its deadline to finish the state budget, Monday at midnight.  Senate G-O-P Majority Leader Paul Gazelka:

“It doesn’t appear that we’ll get done on time, but you need to know that we continue to work towards the things that need to get done.”

Republicans, Democrats and the governor are wrangling over how to spend billions of dollars in one-time federal money coming to Minnesota from the American Rescue Act.  Republicans also want Walz to give up his COVID emergency powers.  It’s likely a special session will be necessary to finish the state budget.
