The family of slain Corrections Officer Joseph Gomm says unless the legislature approves the proposed three-million-dollars in compensation for his death, they’ll sue the State of Minnesota for a “larger sum” than that, before the statute of limitations runs out in a couple of months.  Gomm’s sister, Audrey Cone:

“For the last three years all we’ve gotten from everybody is, we are sorry for your loss, we want to make this right.  We’ve gotten nothing but lip service from everybody because nobody wants to do anything.”

The three-million-dollar settlement stalled in committee and was not included in either the House or Senate public safety budget bill.   Gomm family attorney Michael Padden says the governor needs to “step in and make this happen.”  Walz’s office hasn’t commented.
