Hennepin Healthcare staff are petitioning against the use of medical force on patients deemed as uncooperative. The group behind the petition says the practices of sedating, secluding and physically restraining patients are dangerous and overused, especially on patients of color. Their petition, which has more than one-thousand signatures, asks for hospital leadership to audit how often they use these practices and for them to stop training law enforcement on “excited delirium.” They added that its use is exploited to justify police force.
