In the wake of this week’s announcement that the DNR is halting the importation and movement of farmed deer in Minnesota. Assistant DNR Commissioner Bob Meier assured:

“This action will not have any impact on the wild deer hunt that’s conducted in the state of Minnesota on registered deer hunters.”

The DNR’s emergency ban was put into effect after three Minnesota farms received five deer from a farm in Wisconsin where chronic wasting disease (CWD) was detected.
