The Minnesota Department of Transportation expects to reopen the southbound Highway 169 ramps to Lookout Drive in Mankato/North Mankato the afternoon of Thursday, Nov. 4, following a crash that occurred on Oct. 21 involving a truck that struck a bridge.
MnDOT has completed inspections of the bridge and has determined that a 10’ lane width restriction on the southbound exit ramp from Highway 169 to the Lookout Drive ramp will be necessary until permanent repairs to the bridge can be made next summer. Concrete barrier will be placed on the bridge to shift traffic away from the beam that was damaged during the crash. Motorists are advised to drive with caution in this area.
The northbound Highway 169 ramps to Lookout Drive and Center Street in Mankato/North Mankato were also initially closed following the crash but reopened to traffic the afternoon of Oct. 21.
MnDOT will continue to inspect and evaluate the bridge for safety and monitor the effects of traffic, weather, and other elements of the structure until permanent repairs are made.
