(St. Paul, MN)  —  An “alternative care site” is opening in Minnesota to help hospitals at capacity due to COVID-19.  Governor Tim Walz announced Tuesday that Benedictine St. Gertrude’s senior living community in Shakopee will be taking up to 30 patients from area hospitals to provide “transitional care.”  Additionally, the Minnesota National Guard will be providing extra temporary nursing assistants to aid the facility.  Governor Walz believes the move will relieve other facilities dealing with the rapid rise in COVID-19 hospitalizations in Minnesota.
