Deer hunters are being encouraged to test their deer for CWD in affected zones. DNR Commissioner Sarah Strommen:

“By knowing where you’re hunting in the designated CWD zone. If it is know where you’re going to have  tested if that’s a staff station or a self-service station.”

So far, 118 cases of CWD have been found in Minnesota’s wild deer herd, most in the southeastern part of the state. The disease is also being aggressively managed near Bemidji, the Brainerd Lakes Area, and in the south metro.
