The northern border reopening for vaccinated Canadian tourists to visit the U-S should be good for the state’s economy. So says Leeann Kispert, Interim Director of Explore Minnesota…

“Canada is the top international market for visitors to Minnesota. In 2019 we hosted over 536,000 Canadian visitors who spent an average $925 per trip in communities all throughout our state.”

Kispert says in 2020 the visitation number fell to 132,000 and both the U-S and Canada have suffered economically as a result of pandemic travel restrictions. She says overall, Minnesota has lost $10.7 billion in travel spending since January of 2020.
