This week the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development announced nearly 74-million dollars in block grants to help 68 tribal communities with COVID relief.  HUD Deputy Secretary Adrianne Todman says they worked closely with tribal leaders in how the funds should be administered:

“I know that  — that demonstrates the value that we place on the nation-to-nation relationship we have with Indian country.”

These funds to Tribes will help protect the health and safety of their communities, particularly low-and moderate-income individuals and families, by expanding their access to the development of housing, a suitable living environment, and economic opportunities.

HUD Deputy Secretary Adrianne Todman says the funds are very community-driven:

“We are really thrilled that you will be able to make decisions locally that you need to make to help your community strive and move forward beyond the pandemic.”
