(Brooklyn Center, MN) — Opening statements are set to begin today in the trial of former Minnesota police officer Kim Potter, who shot Daunte Wright while yelling “taser” earlier this year. It happened in Brooklyn Center, a Minneapolis suburb and resulted in the death of the 20-year-old Black man. Potter is charged with first and second-degree manslaughter. Her attorneys say it was an innocent mistake.
