Officials broke ground for a new National Guard Armory in Luverne in far southwest Minnesota, to replace the current facility which is 99 years old.  Lieutenant Colonel Mark Gile, Commander of the 1st Battalion and 125th Field Artillery Regiment:

“The armory in Luverne needed to be upgraded, and it does offer some large benefits, not only to our organization but to the city of Luverne too.”

Lieutenant Colonel Gile says the new armory will have a larger footprint — over 46-thousand square feet, with two assembly halls and more classrooms.  He says support from Luverne has been “wonderful.”
