Meteorologists are still sifting through the data from the powerful storm that generated hurricane force winds in Southern Minnesota.

“The highest gust we did see was 78 miles an hour, which is incredibly high and not part of any tornado. It was in Redwood Falls.”

Paige Marten with the National Weather Service says the impacts were felt across a wide area.

“Practically everywhere in our area gusted at least into the mid 40s. And with that we’re receiving a lot of storm damage reports today.”

Marten says winds will become calmer throughout the day and remain mild through the weekend.
