(St. Paul, MN) — The Minnesota State Patrol is asking the state legislature to replace an aging helicopter. The department says the single-engine aircraft needing replaced has been in use for over 15 years. The helicopter would be replaced with a twin-engine version capable of flying higher, faster, and safer in the case of engine failure according to the trooper’s request. The new aircraft would cost the state thirteen-point-nine-million dollars. Governor Walz included that amount for a replacement aircraft in his supplemental March budget request.
