How Many Movies Do You Go To Per Year?

By |2019-12-27T08:48:06-06:00December 27th, 2019|

Admittedly I don't get to the box office as much as I'd like yet ironically I have seen about 60% of the top movies of 2019. It clearly says a lot about the kind of movies I like to see. I'm definitely into seeing certain "types" of movies if I'm going to spend my cash at the theater. With films like Black Widow, Wonder Woman 1984, Ghostbusters: Afterlife, Top Gun: Maverick, Godzilla vs. Kong, Bill & Ted Face the Music, Coming 2 America and more arriving in 2020, my goal for the new year is to try to keep up with [...]

By |2019-11-12T09:44:07-06:00November 12th, 2019|

We are all fighting our own battles. Some are fighting a little more publicly than others. One of those in the spotlight fighting his cancer battle is Jeopardy host Alex Trebek. He had just shared with contestants on the show that he was reentering treatment for pancreatic cancer.  When Dhruv Gaur didn't know the answer to final Jeopardy, he took the opportunity to say what everyone was thinking. Click here to see what response got Alex choked up and brought people in living rooms across America to tears. -TJ

Would You Fake Your Own Death If You Could?

By |2019-11-04T08:58:13-06:00November 4th, 2019|

Let’s pretend that you could fake your own demise and just start over …   A)  Would you? B)  Would you really push the eject button on this life, leave everyone you know behind, and start over with a new identity? C)  If so, how would you spend this “new life”? What new decisions would you make? D)  Do you really think you goofed this life up so much that it requires a do-over?   If you should decide to push the reset button some day, make sure you do it better than an Australian man who faked his own death [...]

A Legend Is Born!

By |2019-10-29T10:53:01-05:00October 29th, 2019|

A lot happened during game 5 of the World Series. Never mind the game on the field. Fans booed the President, two women behind home plate decided to bare their breasts in the name of Breast Cancer Awareness Month (A move that got them banned from MLB ballparks indefinitely), but my favorite moment was the guy, we now know his name is Jeff Adams, who refused to spill one single drop of beer as a baseball was headed straight for him. Armed with a Bud Light in each hand he took it like a man and lived to tell the tale. [...]

Who is on your concert bucket list?

By |2019-10-24T11:46:59-05:00October 24th, 2019|

I've been fortunate to get the chance to see some of my all time favorites in some pretty cool venues. I saw The Grateful Dead on back-to-back nights at Soldier Field in Chicago just months before Jerry Garcia passed away in 1995. I saw the Eagles at Alpine Valley during the Hell Freezes Over Tour and again at Target Field recently. I also saw Billy Joel at Target Field, Elton John in Mankato and tonight I will be checking Bob Dylan off my list at Mankato Civic Center. Somehow he has eluded me all these years, so I'm excited to finally [...]

The Final Trailer for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

By |2019-10-22T12:23:25-05:00October 22nd, 2019|

Many say that Disney has ruined Star Wars. I don't care. Many say the acting in Star Wars movies is terrible. It doesn't matter. I was raised on Star Wars. It returned in early adulthood and now it's back in middle-age. I get just as excited for the release of a new Star Wars movie as I did when I was a child. If a Star Wars movie is on TV, I'll watch it with commercials even though I own it. The new and final trailer for The Rise of Skywalker was released during Monday Night Football last night. Seeing certain [...]

Why am I so nervous about this weekend?

By |2019-10-18T10:54:21-05:00October 18th, 2019|

In 2010 I decided to run my first marathon.  It was the inaugural Mankato Marathon. I made the bold choice to jump right to the marathon without ever having completed anything longer than a 10K.  What I hadn’t planned for was the MSU hockey games that would be scheduled both the night before and the night of the marathon.  I managed to get both games and a marathon done that weekend and I vowed to never do something dumb like that again.  It was exhausting!  Fast forward ten years and here we are. I was asked by the Mankato Family YMCA [...]

If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?

By |2019-10-16T16:02:49-05:00October 16th, 2019|

It's an easy choice for me. Pizza. It's a fun discussion that people have had for ages because we know that it would likely never happen, but what if you didn't actually have a choice?  In a sad case of a Florida man named Austin Davis one thing is literally all he can eat.  Abuse suffered as a child and the PTSD that followed have left him with a diet of one thing and one thing only. Sometimes the things we take for granted can be a crippling disability for someone else. (Warning: The video below has a small amount of [...]
